Reauthorising your Stripe account

Stripe is a popular option for accepting online payments from your clients. Previously, linking your Stripe account to Light Blue involved copying and pasting API keys from your Stripe account into your Light Blue account. As of 2024, Stripe are encouraging their users to switch to using an updated method of authorising third-party apps, including Light Blue.

How can I tell if I need to do this?

1. Log into your Light Blue account and go to the “API & Integrations” section.
2. If you don’t already have a Light Blue API key, click the button to create one.
3. Under the “Stripe” heading, if you’re using the old method of authorising your Stripe account, you’ll see a message that begins “You are using Stripe API keys…”. Read on to find out how to reauthorise your Stripe account.
4. If instead you see a message that begins “Your account is authorised with the Stripe account ‘example@example.com’…”, you have already reauthorised your Stripe account and do not need to do anything.

How do I reauthorise my Stripe account?

If you need to reauthorise Light Blue’s access to your Stripe account, follow the instructions on the “API & Integrations” page to do so.

Stripe will ask you to log into your Stripe account and authorise Light Blue’s access to it. You do not need to create a new Stripe account, you can continue to use the same Stripe account that you are already using with Light Blue.

Selecting payment methods to use with Stripe and Light Blue

Stripe allows you to select which payment methods you want to use with Light Blue. After you’ve reauthorised Light Blue’s access to your Stripe account, you can click here to log into your Stripe account’s payment method settings. Remember to select “Light Blue” from the “Select Platform” popup menu before selecting the payment methods you want to use.
