Light Blue Software website privacy notice
This privacy notice forms part of licence agreement that controls your use of our software.
We will treat your data in the same way that we would wish our own personal information to be treated. This notice explains how we use any personal information we collect from you through our website.
Collecting your information
Most of our pages on our website can be accessed without giving us your personal information. If, however, you sign up for a free trial of our software or set up an account with us, we’ll ask you for your name and email address. We also record your activity and preferences when visiting our website through the use of cookies (see the Cookies section below).
Using your information
We’ll use your personal information to activate your free trial and set-up your personal account with us. We undertake this processing because it is necessary to take steps to enter into a contract with you.
If you agree to receive email updates or product support, we’ll use your name and email address to send this information to you. By sending this information to you, we are pursuing our legitimate interest to provide you with information regarding our products. You have the right to object or restrict to this processing at any time, just let us know (see the Contact section below), or click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email. We promise not to bombard you with information or irrelevant offers.

We also use social media providers to notify you of new features or training opportunities.
Who else receives your personal data?
We may share your personal information with third parties where required by law, where it is necessary for our working relationship, or where we have another legitimate interest in doing so.
We may transfer your data to third parties operating or managing the website on our behalf, to third-party payment providers, third-party social media providers, and third-party mailing providers (including Amazon Web Services, Google, Mailchimp, Facebook, Stripe, and Paypal). Those third parties may be located in third countries outside of the EU (see section below). By submitting your personal data, you agree to this processing. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this notice.
Where we have given you or where you have chosen a password which enables you to access your account, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.
Transferring your data outside of the EEA
By using our third-party providers, Mailchimp and Facebook, we transfer the personal information we collect about you to the USA in order to perform our contract with you. Mailchimp and Facebook are registered with the US Privacy Shield. This means that the USA has been deemed by the European Commission to provide an adequate level of protection for your personal information.
Google user data usage and privacy
Light Blue users are able to link their Google account to their Light Blue account in order to send email via their Google account. If you choose to do this, we will:
- Ask you to authorise Light Blue’s access to your Google account.
- Ask you to provide us with the Gmail or G Suite email address linked to that account.
- Use the access that you have provided to send emails via your Google account. These emails are created by you, and either sent or scheduled to be sent at a later date.
We will not:
- Access or store any data in your Google account, other than what is strictly necessary for us to send the emails that you create in Light Blue.
- Share this information with any third party.
How long will we keep your personal data for?
We’ll keep hold of your data during the period we provide our service to you plus six years from the end of the last company financial year they related to, in order to comply with UK company record keeping requirements.
Your rights to your personal data and complaints
You’re entitled to know what personal information we hold about you and how that information is processed, which means you can ask us to do any of the following things:
- to access your data;
- to rectify any mistakes relating to your data;
- to erase your data;
- to stop processing your data;
- to receive an electronic copy of your data;
- to object to our processing of your data;
- to object to any automated decision making that we may do using your personal data; and
- (automatic) to receive a notification of any breach of your personal data.
